I'm going in November, and on our HS day I want to have a sit down and rest in some AC lunch and figured I might as well make it a Fantasmic package lunch so we don't have to get to the show so early. I'm having trouble deciding which one to choose. It will be me and my almost-9 year old. He's a very adventurous eater. Not a hot dog and chicken fingers kind of kid.
I'm not that interested in Sci Fi since I hear mid-ish things about the food and I don't love dark dining rooms. I ate at 50's primetime years ago and loved the experience. The food selection is a bit blah but do-able. I was thinking Hollywood & Vine since some of their buffet food seems good, but then I realized that H&V costs MORE than Brown Derby. Guessing that's because of the character dining aspect, and while that part seems cute, I'm planning to do Topolino's for brunch earlier in my trip so the character part isn't really a must do.
What are your experiences? What do you recommend and why?
Hi Helen! I just wanted to second Jessica's suggestions. We just had lunch at BD last month and it may have been my favorite meal of the whole trip! We didn't do the Fantasmic package so I can't speak to that, but tbh I've never had a bad meal or experience there! (Also loving the fact you have an adventurous eater with you!) I also agree with your assessments of the other options haha. Let us know what you end up doing!
Hey Ellen - great question - I will say that we have ALWAYS done Brown Derby as our Fantasmic meal - mainly because we felt it was worth the money and we would have eaten the courses anyway. Brown Derby is consistent and is typically a nice break from the hectic day at the parks. If your son is an adventurous eater this is a great choice.
H&V will most likely be Christmas characters when you are going so if that is something you are interested in getting pictures of - unique holiday costumes. Then that might make a difference for you. I personally would only go to H&V during special times of the year to get these unique costumes - otherwise it is just a buffet. A Disney buffet is better than just about any buffet - but still a buffet.
Hope this helps - Jess
