What I hadn't realised until I watched the latest 27 Tips video, is that you could change the actual date the LLMP pass is used after you buy it, from one day to another. That makes it so much better from my perspective, as it means the money isn't wasted if plans change at the last minute (for example due to weather). One question I have is, up to when can you change the day? Can you change the day on the day itself, provided you haven't tapped into the park yet? I assume also that if you change the day, then all reservations are re-set and don't carry forward to the other day you choose. Anyway, great video (love the playing-card analogy), and this new system isn't as bad as I first feared! :-)

The "ALWAYS on the phone" comments is my fear. We live on our phones all day, and the last thing I want is to be on the phone all day at Disney! That's why I actually liked the old Genie. You just had to play the slots a couple of times after each ride.

Ha! So the big change for playing the slots, is you can "play the slots" for the initial 3 choices even before you hit the parks!

It would be interesting if you did a video on “buying multi-pass on the same day you use it”. I’m the type who doesn’t plan ahead, and only choose which park I go to on the day, depending on weather, how I feel etc. I’m guessing it is actually possible to buy on the same day?

Ah, good to know the individual lightning lanes can still be purchased with just a party ticket :-) Rides I also really want to do are Tiana and Rock N Roll Coaster, which was closed for both of my last visits. I'm hoping everyone will focus on the rare character meets and the parades, so I'll have the rides for myself. The After Hours I've been too were incredible in terms of lines (except Tron). Even Rise of the Resistance was walk-on! With all the faff around the new lightling lane system (I just don't like advanced planning for booking rides), the evening parties might become my new way to do the Disney parks!

Yeah, I've also been wondering whether the cost of the tickets makes it worthwhile. 3 hours for $170 or so is pretty steep, and I would rather get in a few hours earlier, but I'm not sure I'll have the time. But If I can go on each of the big rides (Slinky, Rise, Tower, Mickey, Rock & Roll) two times in that short period, it might make it worth it for me! I'll be solo this time, and am a pretty fast walker so can zip between rides very quickly! I did Magic Kingdom After Hours in May, and I rode Thunder Mountain 5 times in a row and Space Mountain about 6 times! That alone made the cost worth it :-) I would have ridden Seven Dwarves more than the one time I did, had it not broken down (they never re-opened it that night). Thing is, I guess I need to decide soon, other wise those party tickets will sell out during the time I'm there. One thing I was wondering, if you do have a party ticket only and enter the park a few hours earlier like they allow, can you still buy the new Lightning Lane pass? Or do you have to have proper full day ticket for the pass? Because if you can buy Lightning Lane with a party ticket and I can get in early, that might make it all worthwhile :-) Yeah, definitely let me know how the Halloween party goes if you're doing rides only!

This is looking more complicated than the current Genie system. I had hoped Disney would decrease the amount of advanced planning necessary and allow for a bit more spontaneity! There are more tiers than before, more rules about advanced planning, and it all seems a bit messy.

I'm gonna be honest, but I don't think I'm going to like this change - doesn't suit me at all! I'm the type who doesn't plan ahead and decides what to do on the day depending on how I feel, weather etc. Plus I never stay onsite at Disney. So now, I imagine it will be much more difficult to get good return times for the difficult to get rides. The Genie Slots also massively suited the way I did things, and if this is no longer possible, I imagine it will be a big step back for me :-( As crazy as Genie Plus is, it weirdly works quite well for me and the way I visit parks!

Ha ha - thanks! I think you're right - there was probably a lot more planning in my madness than I realised! It was an amazing holiday, and I'm so happy my Mum got to experience the whole thing. And doing just an afternoon here and there made it all very manageable. I definitely did max-out Genie Plus, but just in a different way I think, although I ended up with similar results. The vacation would not have been half as enjoyable had we had to wait in long lines for all the rides. Playing the slots was a small price to pay for getting into the lightning lanes :-)

I confess, I cheated (for Mum's sake), and hired a push wheelchair for our whole 14 day vactation. Think is cost around $140 for the 2 weeks. Whilst she is able and can walk, she cannot walk for long distances, and in the heat (30 degrees plus), she was shattered after even walking 5 minutes. I really wanted her to experience everything at Disney and Universal, and it would have been impossible without the wheelchair. She was hugely resistant at first and didn't want to go in the chair, but soon realised she simply couldn't cope in those temperatures. In the end, the way it worked was I usually wheeled her around outside running between lightning lanes, and then she would get out for indoor queues and walk. The manual wheelchair did mean I had to push her all day long, which was knackering for me, but also totally worth it as she got to see all the parks in a way which simply wouldn't have been possible without. And the chair was easty to fold and put in normal size ubers which was essential as we stayed off property (in a Universal resort hotel). Definitely take your Dad, and hire the wheelchair even as a back-up, and he can get in it as and when he needs to :-) It's a mixture of the heat and the distance which will do it for someone that age, but it would be a shame for him to miss out on the fun! Mum loved the rides - she didn't do any rollercoasters, but loved Rise of the Resistance, Remy, the water rapid ride (I made her wear a poncho), and was also fine with the small drops in Frozen and Pirates. The one thing she could not cope with was 3D simulators - for some weird reason, they were too much for her and terrified her!

I think it’s more beneficial to sleep in. You can always play the slots to get a better return time. I’m on vacation right now, and I’m finding the whole Disney Genie system a bit annoying, even though with Rob’s help I’ve gone on everything I wanted with good return times :-) I’ve also noticed that both Genie LL and Individual LL almost always come back even when they show as sold out. Just play those slots.

Remy was a massive surprise for me when I went last year - I had no idea what to expect or what type of ride it was, but it was a huge amount of fun. Sadly the timing of Epcot After Hours doesn't work for my upcoming visit, but even if it did, I'd probaby ride Guardians over and over again as that is truly phenomenal, but Remy was my favourite of all the family riders in the entire WDW :-)

I looked into this as a potential Birthday treat for my Mum, but it's just way too expensive unfortunately. It does look phenomenal though, but once you add in food, wine and tips, I think you're talking $1,000 + for two people. So I settled for California Grill instead! One day I'll go here though!

Just 4 nights to go until I leave on my 2 week adventure, and my pre-vacation rituals have already begun! I started packing today because I have a busy week at work, I've booked one restaurant (California Grill), and all park tickets were bought a few months ago. From the UK, you can gt a 14 day tickets for a pretty good price. I've also booked one After Hours event. But my biggest pre-vacation ritual of all is just dreaming of all the fun stuff I'm gonna do during my holiday!

Ahhhhhh....I think I'm just gonna miss this one, unless it opens before 23 May when I fly home :-( Oh well, something to look forward to in 2026 when I'll hopefully make it back to Orlando!

I went in May last year, and am going again this May! Weather is great - the odd thunderstorm every other day, but crowds very manageable. Didn’t get to any of the parks until after 11am, and got on all the rides easily with Genie plus.

They look to be making very good progress on this. I'm hoping for maybe a soft opening in May when I'm there :-) I'm still sad the classic Splash Mountain has gone, but I think this will be a pretty cool ride too, and I loved the Princess and the Frog movie!

Ha! Looks like we're all a bit crazy and want maximum fun :-) Ideally, I think I'd rather take it easy on the final night (especially as I want to do early entry at Islands of Adventure the next day). But I really loved the Hollywood Studios After Hours event last year - at the end of the night, I was literally in Galaxy's Edge by myself in the pitch black...was a totally surreal experience! But I also don't want to leave my mum by herself on the last night, so there's that consideration too. I guess I see how I'll feel, although the After Hours events sell out often I think, so I probably need to make a decision before the vacation starts! Decisions decisions!

How did you find Flight of Passage? I think it might be a bit too intense for my Mum, as from memory, you're locked into a bike-style position and they shoot air at you (Mum had a bit of a panic attack on the Jimmy Fallon ride at Universal Studios last year because of the air being blown on her face )!! Also, I might ride Dinosaur alone first, and see how it is :-)
