Park hopping with Genie+

In one of the videos, Rob is hopping between Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. He goes between doing a LL at HS and then having one to use at AK.
My question is about the 120 min rule. I've seen on another blog that you cannot book a LL after using one, until you hit the 120 min rule... it cannot just sit and wait for you to use it. I don't know if I'm being clear. We are planning to be in Disney World in June and park hop between AK and MK. I'd like to stack lanes at night for Magic and still use some at Animal.
Can I book a LL after checking in for a ride at AK , even if I have a later one at Magic?
