Hello,
Just been watching the Magic Band video from a year ago and I wanted to find out if there have been many changes since that video was created.
Are the standard Magic Bands still readily available? Or is it all Magic Band Plus now?
Have there been any additional features added for Magic Band Plus since last year?
Is it still recommended to get one of those little accessories that prevents the band from popping off your wrist unexpectedly?
Are there different sizes for children?
Thank you in advance, the Ear Scouts videos are by far the best out there!
I recently upgraded from MagicBand to MagicBand+ and was advised that the + version tends to run a bit loose. Amazon sells a pack of clips to keep the band closed around your wrist. Not sure if this board allows links, but type in MagicBand+ clips and it's the first item that comes up (11 clips in a variety of colors for $7.99).
That's great Rob, thank you for responding. Just one more question, are there different sizes for children?
Hi Jonny 5! The good news is that the battery life of MagicBand+ has improved dramatically - even for those of us who bought the first batch (they fixed them through software updates). In terms of new features, there hasn't been much, but it is worth noting that the new MagicBand system at Disneyland resort in Anaheim only uses the Plus version, so that is another reason to get the fancy upgrade. For me, I rarely keep mine charged up because I don't use any of the special features very often. I'll occasionally wave at a statue when my wrist vibrates or go bounty hunting when I have a guest visiting that is excited about it, bu otherwise, I just wear it with a dead battery and it behaves just like the old fashioned MagicBands. You can still get those, by the way. They are cheaper and have fewer design options, but they are still in stores. As for them popping off, I got a second one for free from DestinationD23 and never bothered to order the BitBelt for it. It feels a bit more pliable and hasn't popped off on me yet. That said, I still always wear my strap for my original one because I'd be pretty bummed to lose it and I don't trust it to stay secure without the strap. Hope that helps!
