We used an approach (pre Genie+) of going to one park in the morning, . taking a break in the afternoon at our resort, and heading to another park in the evening. I am curious about the experience with getting “top tier” rides if I start using the two-hour rule after leaving the first park, I.e., will we struggle to get many lightning lanes at second park for top rides? I know it will be harder, but if we start at say, 1:30, is it feasible we could get LLs for top tier rides later in the evening? We have. a family of five, so just over the threshold for a small group. Thanks!

Thanks so much, Rob!
Hi Dennis! I agree with Craig that there are a few rides that it would be hard to grab without booking them at 7am with a party of 5 on 4th of July. I'd say Slinky Dog Dash and Remy are the two big ones. I use the term "hard to grab" - it's not impossible, but you will have your work cut out for you. 😂 This would be my advice: go ahead and book something that you would be okay with. Maybe if you are aiming for Slinky Dog, book Runaway Railway if that is another ride you would like. Focus on modifying that to turn it into a Slinky Dog reservation, but even if you are not successful, the two hour clock is counting and you have something booked. Keep that going until you get lucky or - if all else fails - there is always standby at the end of the night. My other advice would be to consider Animal Kingdom for park number two because even the toughest to book rides there are still bookable later in the day. Good luck!
Hi Dennis! First of all, yes, it will be busy but you can always get lucky playing the Genie+ Slots! I just wanted to make sure you are aware you can book LLs at other parks as long as you follow the G+ rules. Say you start at Epcot and wanted to finish the day at Magic Kingdom. You can make a LL reservation at 7a.m. for Remy and then start making MK reservations as early as 11:00 a.m. assuming Epcot opens at 9:00 a.m. (Remember the 120 minute rule doesn’t start until the park actually opens to the public.) You don’t have to wait to leave the first park to start booking the second if that makes sense. Hope this answers your question!
I should have added/ it will be 4th of July week, so busy!
