So from your videos, I gather you get a new LL when you: 1) Tap into your most recently booked LL 2) 2 hours has passed since your most recent LL booking
3) Your most recent LL booked has expired? Is the above correct? If so, first question is when you make that first LL booking at 7 am, once you make your 2nd LL booking 2 hours after park open, then you will never get that first LL replenished even after you tap in since it will never be the most recently booked LL anymore. So you can either get 1 ride out of that first potential LL. Or do what you did in you most recent video and try to tap into as many rides one after the other using that first slot with no real penalty since you're waiting for 2 hours after park open anyways. In that scenario above, up until when is that penalty free period? Is it until the park opens and every LL you book after 2nd park opens will further delay you getting your "2nd LL" slot which will be some time after 11 am now? i.e. if I book a LL at 9:10, then I get my 2nd LL slot at 11:10 now rather than 11 am? I'm also confused about 2 hours after park opens since AK opens before the others. Is there some way you can get your 2nd potential lightning lane at 9:30 am (2 hours after AK opens) as opposed to 11 am (2 hours after the other parks open)?
Next question was are you able to have LLs at different parks at the same time. i.e. currently in MK, book a LL for HS but then use my next LL to book rides in MK until I eventually hop over to HS.
Final question - Any tips for those who know they won't be in the parks until 11 am/12 pm? Have a little one who likes to sleep in.
Thanks in advance!
Hi Kumaran! I love Jessica's answer below, but wanted to add a few bits.
It sounds like your initial concern is that your first ride you book at 7am would still be blocking you later in the day. This is not the case. Two hours after the park opens, even if you have not used that LL, it no longer affects you at all. It can sit there all day and you will be free to book additional rides so long as you either tap in at those new rides you book or you wait two hours after booking them.
Two hours counts down from the time the park where your ride is located opens. So if you book a ride in AK, the two hours starts when AK opens, even if you decide to start your day in a different park that opens later.
You can have multiple LLs at different parks so long as you have a ticket that allows park hopping and you purchae the park hopping version of Genie Plus. The only limitation is that you cannot modify an existing LL from one park to a different ride in another park. But you are free to book a new LL in any park you wish.
We have a whole series of videos called "Sleep In and Still Do Everything" at each of the parks. The show how to use stacking to your benefit when you'll have a late start to the day.
Hope that helps!
The ideal scenario is to book a popular ride at 7, and if you can't get a return time right around park opening up front, then try to modify to get it as close to park opening as possible so that you don't have to worry about the "two hours after park open" thing. We did this on our most recent trip two weeks ago and we almost never had a problem backing up even the most popular rides to near park open. The only one we couldn't get that early was Slinky, we got that one back to 3 PM but couldn't get it any earlier, so in that case we had to wait until 11 (2 hours after HS opened that day) to book our next one. I believe the 2 hour after opening rule is smart enough to adjust for different park opening times if you buy Genie+ for that particular park. I am not sure what it does if you buy it for multiple parks. I believe you can book back and forth for different parks but not sure on that, I think there is a video about it though!
My own strategy was to book a hugely popular ride at 7 am, and then after that just keep an eye on the times. If other popular rides still appeared to have plenty of availability/early return times, I focused on booking whatever was immediately available so I could ride more things quickly/avoid the two hour rule. If popular rides looked like they might be close to running out/return times were getting later or showing as unavailable, I focused on getting those and modifying earlier if/when I could, even if it activated the two hour rule.
Hope that helps, have a great trip!
