In general - later in the day is harder to get the big ticket lightening lanes - but the 2nd tier are almost always available. I think the best solution is always to get your initial must dos as your planned if possible and then just play it by ear the rest of the day - it is possible to get LL all the way up on to park close for a lot of rides. Also if you combine shows, short waits and LL from noon - close you can do a lot.

In terms of strategy, pre-book the rides that are most important to you. Then from there look at which rides have the latest return times and if there are any you really want to do, then get those booked first.
Also taken into account the handy tip, if a LL expires you can immediately book another one. However you can still tap into the expired one up to 2 hours after the expiry time. You have to have tapped in at your first LL for this to start working.
